Consent Campaign
Situation
Capilano University and the Capilano University Students’ Union wanted to create an awareness campaign that educated students about the importance of consent and encouraged positive conversations around the topic. Because consent can be a sensitive and complex subject, the campaign needed to communicate an important message while feeling approachable, inclusive, and engaging for a student audience.
Task
As the Graphic Designer, I was responsible for developing a visual identity and campaign materials that would capture students’ attention and encourage engagement. The goal was to create a campaign that felt bold and impactful without relying on fear-based messaging or a negative tone.
Action
I developed a bright, energetic visual direction using a vivid colour palette, clean sans-serif typography, and playful graphic elements to create a friendly and approachable tone. I incorporated sharp lines and angular shapes to convey the importance and clarity of the message, while balancing those elements with vibrant colours and accessible design choices to keep the campaign welcoming.
Working within the university environment, I collaborated with stakeholders to ensure the creative direction aligned with the campaign’s educational goals and resonated with the student community.
Result
The final campaign provided students with an engaging and memorable way to learn about consent while reinforcing a positive, respectful message. By combining strategic communication with thoughtful visual design, the campaign helped make a challenging topic more approachable and encouraged awareness across the campus community.
