Film & Animation poster

Situation

The Bosa Centre for Film & Animation at Capilano University hosts an annual open house to attract prospective students and showcase its highly regarded programs. The event needed a strong visual presence that would appeal to a broad audience interested in film, animation, visual effects, costuming, and other creative disciplines.

Task

As the Graphic Designer, I was tasked with creating an eye-catching poster concept that represented the diverse range of programs offered by the Bosa Centre. The challenge was to develop a visual idea that felt connected to film and storytelling without focusing too narrowly on one discipline or medium.

Action

I explored the fundamental building blocks of motion imagery and identified the pixel as a universal visual language that connects traditional film, digital animation, and visual effects. I developed an abstract pixel-based graphic system that referenced the technical foundations of moving images while allowing room for interpretation across all areas of the program.

The visual concept was designed as a flexible campaign asset, allowing the graphic elements to be adapted across multiple formats, including postcards, flyers, social media graphics, and website imagery. This created a cohesive experience across both print and digital channels.

Result

The final campaign provided the Bosa Centre with a distinctive and versatile visual identity for its open house promotion. The adaptable design system successfully represented the breadth of creative programs offered while creating a memorable and engaging way to connect with prospective students across multiple touchpoints.
